2 months Kelsey? Seriously?

Another long post pending…..

You know, you’d think I would be better about this by now. I am just getting worse and worse as the days go on. I am sure all of you know but I am no longer in Freo, sadly. I sure do miss Freo but not the weather. Although it’s going into summer now so the weather will be amazing. The weather in Broome has been absolutely amazing. We are going into the wet season up here which I am not too thrilled about. Wet season explains itself. From End of October til about April it will be non stop raining, humid hot, cyclones, etc. Which means no pool, no beach. My plan was to be back in Perth before wet season gets here, but I’ve got some exciting news so I am not sure when I’ll go back to Freo/Perth.

So, what have I been up to the past 2 months you might ask. I said my goodbyes & see ya laters to all of my Freo friends. I know I have said this before but those goodbyes suck. You genuinely never know if you’ll see some of them ever again. Meeting people while you’re traveling is nothing like having friends you’ve grown up with or your best friends, the relationship is just different. We are all out here doing the thang by ourselves far away from our friends & family. I am not really sure how to explain it.

Yes you’re seeing that picture correctly, I actually did karaoke, which I never did in Nashville. Nashville people actually were good which is why I never did it. Here, nobody knows me but also nobody cares. That’s how karaoke should be. Liquid courage obviously helped quite a bit, hehe.

Okay – let’s get back on track.

My plan was just to get to Broome & search for a job for my 88 days but I got lucky enough to find one a week before I came here. I am working at a bar called the Roey. It’s no Freo social I’ll just tell y’all that. I am staying in a hostel still but this time I am living with all girls that I work with. I also get a staff discount on my room which has allowed me to save up money again. You guys know how I complained about the hostel I was staying at in Freo? The toilets & kitchen is by far way worse here. I didn’t think that was possible. At least this one has a pool!

I have the possibility to get my own room which I am excited about but I am now debating on if I should or not. Some of the single rooms have their own showers & toilets, which I definitely would do that. But if I can’t get the ones with en suite then I don’t really see the point. Yes my own space would be amazing which is what I have been praying for but to pay $100+ extra a week to still have to share a toilet & shower isn’t really worth it to me.

Enough with the boring stuff!!

I got promoted to supervisor! Kelsey being slightly in charge? Excuse me. Who let that happen? I will still be bartending but also able to do things that I couldn’t before. It will look great on my resume for the future as well. Honestly, I am not sure what else will change because we haven’t really discussed it. It’s the Roey way apparently! Oh also – I have the opportunity to get sponsored which would lead to possible PR (Permanent residency!!!!) SAY WHAT! It was just briefly discussed in the meeting I had last week so I don’t know much about it. Not getting my hopes up just yet. Broome is absolutely stunning but I don’t feel like this is home so we will see how long I stay for.

Grandma, before you ask if there are any boys, the answer is no. I have gone on a few dates since being here so you’d be proud of me. I did actually go on one of the best dates I have ever been on. Of course met him a week before he had to leave Broome. But I am just thankful that I got to have an amazing few dates. 🙂
