one month down

Can y’all believe I have already been in Australia for one month? I took the ferry over to Sydney this afternoon to meet the Legend himself, Justin! If you guys ever get the chance to go on one of his tours you definitely should. I might end up doing his Tasmania tour next year if anyone wants to meet me out there. We will see where this life of mine takes me. This was the post card he wrote for me last year so needless to say he knew I was moving here before I did.

Justin asked me if I was feeling homesick yet. Can anyone guess my answer? If you answered no, you are correct. I mean I do for sure miss my house, the creek, family & friends but I wouldn’t quite say that I am homesick. I think it’ll hit once I am not on “Holiday” mode. Majority of you reading this wrote something in my going away journal that I haven’t read yet. I don’t plan on doing that until I do feel homesick.

We went to the Opera bar (sits right by the Opera house) had an amazing cup of coffee then went to a little pub. We had a few beers & I had a burger. I just had to take a picture of this pizza though. Check out the toppings list on that bad boy. Would y’all dare to eat it?

Want to know what is crazy to me? That I haven’t worked in 2 months & I won’t be working until about March. Unless I can find a job for a little less than a month right after my east coast trip just to save up some. I don’t have plans to find a job until after the music festival I am going to in March. I am just leaving it up in the air which sounds absolutely insane, trust me, I know. It will all work out. I can’t remember if I mentioned why I need to do my 88 days or not so leave me a comment below if I haven’t and I’ll add that to a future blog.

Some questions people have asked me:

  • How did I save for the trip?
    – I already had some sort of savings. Then as soon as I got home from my trip last January I started putting even more in that savings account. Which turned into my “Australia fund” rather than a savings account at that point. Being a bartender on broadway I did make a lot of money. Not trying to brag just being honest! I have always been pretty good about saving money so that was helpful too.
  • How did I decide what I took and left behind?
    – This was honestly very hard. My cousin Ann helped me pack which was very helpful. Even though I only brought a suitcase, backpack & duffle it still feels like a lot. I just knew I was going to be traveling around at first so I had to keep it as simple as I could really. I can always buy stuff out here when needed & if I do go shopping I just get rid of something. That way my bags don’t get any heavier because y’all I can barely carry it all. It’s easy to wheel around but when the hostels don’t have elevators it’s stressful. My last two places haven’t had elevators. HA!

Keep the questions coming 🙂
