I arrived in Manly today which is still in Sydney just a different area. First time here and I am very excited to explore! They name it like they see it in Australia. Literally. Manly comes from some dude who began exploring around Sydney years ago. He commented on the physique of the Indigenous men who met him in their canoes and on the land. He called them strong and ‘manly’ and thereafter this cove was known as Manly. There is a really pretty area called Sea Cliff Bridge. There is a Sea, a Bridge and a cliff. I can’t think of the other random names but it’s just funny to me. Maybe ill find me a manly man.. hehe
You would’ve thought by me doing my research I would have looked more into reviews. The hostel I’ll be staying in for the next 10 days has NO AIR!!! I legit could cry. It is summer here y’all! How in the world am I going to sleep with no air? I did in fact bring a little fan with me to Australia but it is not powerful enough. Luckily they have a fan in the room and then they have little fans attached to the beds as well. I went to Coles today (grocery store) & found an extension cord because my fan won’t last all night without it being plugged in. So yes I will be using both fans. I am just praying it’ll be cool enough so I can actually get some sleep. Other than that this hostel so far seems to be great. The rooms are VERY small but thats okay because I won’t be in it much. They have curtains on the beds which is nice because it is more privacy!! Anyone who is taller than me which is everyone would have a hard time sleeping on the top bunk because it has such a low top. Their common area is amazing. It is in the middle of the hostel outside! They have a little bar, pool tables, cornhole, couches, and a giant egg shaped hanging chair. They also have a lounge area downstairs which has bean bag chairs and a projector screen. The kitchen is actually pretty nice and it has an OVEN!! Bless. They give you free breakfast every morning so I will let ya know what’s all included in that tomorrow. They do have daily and nightly events as well. They update them tomorrow so I will be able to share those with you once they do. I am sharing a room with 3 other guys and just myself. Just praying none of them snore (wishful thinking I know). At this moment I have only met 2 of the guys. One is probably in his late 40’s and the other seems my age.
I walked around a little today & from what I can tell I really will like it here. It’s definitely a nice change of scenery. I had a tropical smoothie that was delicious. I can’t remember the name of it and can’t remember everything that is in it so I will have to find it again tomorrow. I stumbled across this man playing a violin. In that moment looking at the beach and listening to him play I just felt so proud of myself. I did cry but they were happy tears. Seriously so proud of myself for doing this & doing it SOLO. Then I went and did a little grocery shopping & now I am back at my hostel. I am too comfy *lazy* to move to go take some pictures of everything but I promise I’ll upload some to my social media and eventually add them on here.
Xo
