For starters I LOVE Byron.
I booked the East coast tour with Welcome to Travel. I met everyone that I will be spending the next month with this past Monday. We took an over night bus to Byron Bay which wasn’t the worst thing but definitely wish they gave us the option to fly. Anything over about 6 hours and I would just much rather fly. Guess who is the oldest again? ME. We love to see it. Luckily everyone in this group is so chill though and they don’t act like 18 year old children. (No offense to any of you reading this) I have to remind myself that I acted like that too, still do from time to time haha. We have a really good group so I am very excited for this next month. If you click on this picture of the group below it will take you to the WTT website & it shows you my itinerary for the next month.

Everyone told me before coming how much I would love Byron. They weren’t wrong. I am not quite ready to leave. The first day we got here it was just pouring down rain the entire day so it felt like a wasted day. We all ended up just getting into the ocean and making the best of it. That night we went to the piano bar. Which if you ever find yourself in Byron you HAVE to go to this piano bar. There are two guys playing piano back to back & they play anything you request. For instance: Party in the USA. They changed the lyrics to “It’s a party in Byron Bay” and I will never say USA ever again because Byron Bay sounds so much better. It was a $20 cover to get in but soooo worth it. Click on the “Soup of the day Margarita” picture and it should take you to the piano bar’s instagram page. Get a little taste of what it’s like.

Wednesday we all were supposed to go on a walk to the lighthouse but Lyndsay & I got left behind. Tommy our tour guide doesn’t play around. So we did our own little walk. Didn’t make it to the lighthouse because I wanted to check out this view point & it was so worth it. We saw a koala along the way as well.

After that we went kayaking in the river which was an absolute disaster. I mean, I tried to enjoy it. The river definitely won. The current was so strong & we had to fight it to go back. Tragic I tell ya. We rode in style to the river though so that was a plus. It reminded me of the bus in Harry Potter.

It’s our last day in Byron sadly! Some of the group are out at a surf lesson (one day I’ll participate…maybe.) While they are surfing I am just taking this time to catch up. We are having a BBQ later where Tommy will be cooking. Then I think the plan is to just have a beach day & then have a pregame before we head back to the piano bar for our last night. Tommy sends us on our way up the coast tomorrow. He has been our tour guide in Byron. We are on our own for the rest of the way up. That means we are in charge of getting on the bus ourselves. If you miss the bus, you’re practically screwed. Praying nobody misses it!! I will definitely be back to Byron eventually. I need more time here but also am very excited to see the rest of the coast.
Next stop: Surfers paradise, Gold Coast.
