Nearly a week in syd

I can’t believe I’ve nearly been in Sydney for a week. It still just seems like I am on holiday. I personally don’t think Australia will feel like home until I have my own place & have a job. Which who knows when that will be. I have been insanely busy the past few days so I haven’t been able to post as much as I would’ve liked to. That’s okay though because I will have plenty of time here in the next few weeks to tell y’all all about everything. I think I ended my last blog post with my first full day. I would say that I won’t bore you with a play by play but thats what my blog is for. I am finally having a bit of down time to catch y’all up!!

Sunday a few of us from the welcome to travel tour went on the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. Ended up being the perfect day for a 3.7 mile hike because of the weather. After our hike we finally checked into our new room. When we were all getting ready the hostel workers came around and told us about a bar crawl. It’s honestly pretty nice how most of the hostels have social events. You don’t necessarily have to go but if you’re solo traveling you might as well. You just have to go up to someone and ask where they are from then BOOM new friend. They do have different events each day/night.

Monday our tour started. 9 people from all over the world. Some from the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and Netherlands. I have yet to meet someone else from the states!! I have told everyone I am from Nashville, Tennessee. That is simply just because nobody knows where Southport, IN is. Nashville is my home & majority of people have heard of it. We got to meet our tour guide Chloe, which I had a slight fan girl moment because I follow her on TikTok. I have gotten so much information from her TikTok. She moved to Australia last year and has become such a badass tour guide. Monday we went over what we would be doing for the rest of the week. Then we set up our new Aussie numbers & bank accounts. Just when I thought it couldn’t get anymore official than me booking my one way flight. It did. I had to say goodbye to my cell phone number that I’ve had since I was about 13 years old. I could’ve kept it but there would’ve been no point to pay for it. Plus, I wanted to take starting over to a whole different level.

Tuesday we went on an indigenous cultural tour which was amazing in itself. If you ever get the chance to go on an indigenous cultural tour please do. It is so unique and interesting learning about different cultures. After that we went to a speak easy type bar & had a cocktail making class. I’d say I was a little surprised with how excited I was to get behind the bar again. Craft cocktail is defo not for me though. I got a little spoiled making basic drinks. Overall it was so fun because it’s what I do enjoy doing. I just had to take a step back & move to a different continent to realize that I missed it. YALLLL!! It is illegal to free pour in Australia. W I L D.

Wednesday & Thursday was the start of our little roadtrip outside of Sydney. Saw some waterfalls, beautiful dolphins & amazing beaches. It gets SO windy here that the beach sometimes just isn’t enjoyable because it feels like you’re being attacked by sand. Then we headed to surf camp. I did in fact NOT surf. Many reasons, but the main reason probably being I can barely swim to save my life. There’s that. Surf camp vibes were so good though. It was just a cute tiny little town. I definitely would love to eventually learn how to surf but I need more than a day. The idea of learning how to surf in two hours scares the living hell out of me. I really wanted to go to the Ivy once we got back to civilization but I was just too exhausted. How was I the one exhausted when I was the only one who didn’t surf? Makes no sense. Some of our group still went out but I stayed home, caught up on laundry & now finally catching up on this. We only have a few days left on this tour. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to come out to Australia. They help you set up pretty much everything you need. They help you meet new people. They let you do fun things while on tour. All for a really reasonably price!! I will be sharing more about them & their website on my socials.

The thing I always look forward to the most is having morning coffee. The coffee here is UNREAL! I am not even joking. It just taste so dang amazing. No matter what you get. Its almost midnight here so with that being said we have a 9 am wake up call so I am taking my butt to bed.
